The Foolishness of God

Once upon a time...

in a land far, far away,

lived a virgin who loved God,

she became pregnant

without touching her soon to be husband

the little she knew of God

she believed and obeyed

the man she was engaged to

did not want others to mock her

she was not insane

she was not promiscuous

she was a young teen

she had much faith

he thought to make it a secret

so she would not be killed

for getting pregnant

before the wedding ceremony

angelic visions gave them the

courage to not throw

each other away and hold

onto their future together

not your average romance

a bizarre teen drama

orchestrated by the divine

and we think we are

in control of everything

and believe the lies that

God is not good, fair or kind

God must not be benevolent

if he manipulated them

for his own selfish plans

to bring our rescue to earth

we are so right to judge and

condemn the creator for his

foolish ways that don’t mesh

with our brilliant wisdom
