Get Busy Serving in Reno

Let's get people heavily involved in ongoing service to the homeless in Washoe County increasing our compassion while loving and evangelizing the broken.

Men’s Drop in Center run by Volunteers of America, 315 Record St. [Debbie Caruso, 329-4141] [Family Shelter - 85-100 people including children] [Women’s shelter – 40-50 ladies; Dorieanna Dewey, 722-3087].
  • Prepare & serve dinner
  • 250 men at the meal
  • 10-15 volunteers to make and serve meal
  • 5:30-7pm

Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission, 355 Record St. [call Tammie to coordinate, 323-0386, Ext. 16].
  • Prepare & serve dinner
  • Give gospel presentation or short sermons
  • 30 women & 60 men at meals
  • 10-15 volunteers to make and serve meal
  • 5-6pm

WestCare Triage [this is a detox unit] also at 315 Record St. [A.J., 348-8811].
  • 2-4 volunteers at a time
  • Facility is open 24/7 and can use volunteers at any time
  • Hang out, teach an art/craft or business skill [resume writing, job searches how to interview well], lead a Bible study…
  • Can be a one time thing or ongoing

The Resource Center [1 city employee], 335 Record St. [Krista, 657-4675].
  • Teach business skills [resume writing, job searches how to interview well]
  • Rooms can be reserved for this
  • This can be a one time or regular class
  • M-Fri, 9am-3:30pm
  • Also needs 2 volunteers to answer phones

Good Shepherd’s Clothes Closet, 335 Record St. [Chris, 348-0605].
  • Sort clothes & assist shopper
  • M-Fri, 9am-3:30pm
  • 6 volunteers at a time
  • Prefers regular volunteers to commit to serving weekly
